Intimacy of Harm: How to build community

with Ella and Carson

When we relate to each other, it is inevitable that we will cause harm, but how can we transform these moments of pain into moments of closeness? How can we build a true, embodied, trauma and power aware consensual relationship with ourselves, and bridge that into our friendships? How do we imagine accountability? How can we forgive ourselves when we behave in imperfect and harmful ways?

And what do we dream of when we dream of community?

Bamboo Fun (against all odds)

with RopuNawa & FreyaHellesdim

Tying bamboo onto the body can be a lot of fun, as it is restrictive even without a lot of rope or elaborate techniques. In this workshop, we will create simple and effective ties to hold the bamboo on the body, using it in a playful way to create shapes – with and around the bamboo.

We will explore options for tying the body into bamboo on the floor, in suspension, and also combining it with Hashira!

The Atmosphere of Rope // An Expansive Space for Shibari Play

with hua hua

This two-day workshop series challenges and expands typical approaches of rope practice. Day 1 focuses on the subtle psychological realm and energetic exchange of tying, while Day 2 pushes beyond the typical top-down geometry of Shibari, extending the space of the tie into side points, multiple suspension points, and 3D composition.
